when the the ground is steeper then the water can go more faster down but if you have a flat ground then the water won't go that fast down it will take longer then the erosion will be slower also if there is tree's then the trees is kind stuck in to the soil the when the water comes then the water is on the top so then the tree will will stay in it's position.
